Bittante Flail mower Pulverizing Thorns and brambles
The Bittante flail mower (available in 20", 24", 28", 32" and 39") is our best "bang for the buck" flail mower. A combination of price, standard features, and serious mowing ability are a win-win for our customers!
Bittante, in business since 1952, has more experience and has been making flail mowers longer then either Berta or BCS. The Bittante flail mower quickly pulverizes cover crops for quick decomposition, the flail mower has up to 42 (depending on width of mower) vertically rotating "Y" blades that pulverize plant material into a fine pulp that is evenly spread across the mowing width. The front bulkhead has multiple adjustment positions that user can set depending on the flow of material to be worked, which can be thick brush, vines, and saplings. Adjustment via removal of 2 bolts on each side. The Bittante flail mower will mow over anything it can bend. Unlike the Berta or the BCS flail mower, the Bittante flail mower comes STANDARD with 3 different kinds of cut height adjustment options AND they can be adjusted quicker (side-skids and caster wheels). Stock, the Bittante has height adjustable caster wheels on the front AND adjustable skids on the left and right. The front casters can be stowed quickly by pulling 2 "D" pins if needed, and height can also be adjusted with the left and right skids using a "D" pin. The skids have 4 vertical adjustment positions. The caster wheels also have a series of spacers that allow cut height adjustment on the wheels. The caster wheels can also be locked into a stationary position with a knob for helping mower to maintain a straight path while mowing across steep slopes. This feature nearly exclusive to the Bittante mower. The only other flail mower that allows for this is the 35" BCS Bladerunner. A 3rd cut height adjustment can be made via the STANDARD "roller". This roller is very similar to the roller on the BCS Rollerblade or the Berta flail mower. This roller can be adjusted or removed with 2 bolts on either side of the mower. In many cases the STANDARD "roller" may not be needed for users running on 30" beds. The reason is, the Bittante caster wheels are set far enough inside a 30" bed as to be effective at keeping flail blades out of the dirt...unlike the BCS 30" "Bladerunner". That being said, if user has really tall crops to mow on a vegetable bed, it can still be nice to have the "roller" in the event the caster wheels are banging into tall stalky crops. If the wheels are not needed they can be quickly and easily stowed out of the way by pulling 2 "D" pins and rotating them backward.
The Bittante mower handles heavy-duty brush as good as, if not better than any other mower brand we sell (including the BCS and Berta mowers listed on this page). Another feature of the Bittante is the ability to "float" laterally/side to side when driving on uneven terrain. This is a big advantage over the BCS mower when in rough conditions. This is also a slight advantage over the Berta mower as the Bittante mower has a little more movement left and right then the Berta mower and a "smoother" feel while pivoting left and right. Lastly, the Bittante is the only of the 3 brands we sell that comes stock with "slotted" blades that allow for extra "impact" protection when mowing thicker woody material or rocks. Sounds great, right. Well, is there any downside to the Bittante? Not really, but to be fair to our other brands in our "feedback", the Bittante is the slowest of all 3 brands when it comes to checking the gearbox oil. The end user has to unbolt and remove a guard/shield from underneath the mower to access the gearbox. Estimated time is 5-10 minutes. However, mowers ship with gearboxes already checked, so end user does not have to check gearbox oil until 2nd year. After that once per year checking is advised.
We stock Bittante flail in 24", 28" and 32". Bittante Flail mower in 20" and 39" are SPECIAL ORDER! Wait time on special order can be several months, so plan ahead.

Features
- FITS BLITZ, BCS, AND GRILLO 2-WHEEL TRACTORS
- STANDARD: QUICK HITCH INCLUDED STANDARD FOR ALL TRACTOR MODELS
- STANDARD: Heavy duty "Y" flail blades. These blades are physically larger/heavier than BCS Bladerunner and same size and weight of Berta flail mower. OPTIONAL: Scoop/Mowing blades | Straight / Slitter blades
- STANDARD: Bittante blades are "slotted" at the connection point which give Bittante blades better energy absorbing capabilities over both Berta and BCS flail mowers! THIS FEATURE UNIQUE TO BITTANTE FLAILS.
- STANDARD: Adjustable front (Stowable) swivel caster wheels | Work great on raised beds or flat ground as they are located near the center of mower width. When in heavy brush/vines, they can be quickly stowed (in a matter of seconds) and moved out of the way to allow for better performance as needed.
- STANDARD: Adjustable side skids - Protect the sides of the mower and can be used as cut height adjustment as well
- STANDARD: Adjustable front bulkhead/guard - can be adjusted to suit the volume of cut material
- Woody material cut diameter: Depending on hardness of the wood, up to 1" diameter saplings can be handled by the flail mower
- STANDARD (Upon request) - Adjustable Anti-Scalp roller | Unlike BCS Bladerunner model, which is required to run the anti-scalp roller on 30" raised beds, the Bittante flail mower due to its superior front wheel positioning does NOT need the OPTIONAL roller in many cases.
- STANDARD: Handles, top left and top right make mower easier to move around or lift when mower is not connected to tractor. | THIS FEATURE IS UNIQUE TO ONLY BITTANTE BRAND.
- We stock 24", 28" and 32" sizes to fit Blitz, BCS and Grillo. 20" and 39" flail mowers are SPECIAL ORDER for any tractor brand. Allow 2 months roughly for those sizes.
- Color: Our Bittante mowers are mostly supplied in a red color. Occasionally, due to inventory in Italy, they arrive in silver color. But its the exact same mower, just different color. Price is the same either way.
